Directorate of Sericulture
Objectives
The main objective of Sericulture is to improve the economic status of the rural People of the district who mostly belong to SC/ST or other weaker section of the Society. Also to streamline the Seed Organization activities in the district by Required Intervention at various levels with a view to maximize the seed production both in terms of quality and quantity. Besides, to maximize the leaf yields per unit area by providing assistance for increase in production of cocoons and the resultant sustainable increase in productivity as well product quality.

- Development of Sericulture in the State through Self Help Group
- Marketing Support to Mulberry Seed Rearers
- Purchase of Vanya Cocoons,DFLs,Host Plants,Seed &Seedlings and their transportation.

Achievement:
13.5 acres, 18 acres land have been brought under new Mulberry, Tasari host plantation respectively.
- During 2025-26, 48 Thousand Nistari Seed DFLs & 75 Thousand Nx BV DFLs are Produced and 55 Thousand Nistari Seed DFLs & 8 Thousand Bivoltine Seed SDLs reared during 2025-26
- Under Silk Samagra-2, assistance has been extended for construction of Rearing House to 10 beneficiaries, supply of improved appliances to 66 nos, supply of prophylactic sets to 80 nos, establishment of 01 nos Chawki Rearing Centre..
